It was with profound sadness that I heard and read about the passing of Burt Bacharach,
For me, his music represents the formative teenage years when I lived in Victorville, California, from 1964 to 1971. His songs included an anthem for our generation
and some memorable Dionne Warwick tunes
as well as a classic from Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66
and one of the few 45s that I purchased during my teenage years featuring the dazzling voice of the guitar playing Marilyn McCoo
A side note, I played this song so much that when I went off to Amherst my mother would begin to cry whenever she heard it.
And finally, there is the song from senior year of high school when first love bloomed along with quintessential Carpernter song
The Victorville years were long, long ago, but the memories of those days live on in the present.
God Bless, You Burt Bacharach!
Peace,
