A00075 - We Are the World

For the month of May 2024, I am venturing away from PBS and instead recommending an offering from Netflix, "The Greatest Night in Pop"

This documentary gives the background to the iconic group collaboration that produced the song "We Are The World".

My favorite moment came when, in an attempt make an unsure Bob Dylan sing with assurance, the great Stevie Wonder sat down at the piano and brought Bob Dylan over.  Mimicking Bob Dylan's voice, Stevie instructed Bob as to how he should sing.  It was a classic moment ... and it was beautiful.

What the documentary shows is that the song was done in segments.  I still do not know how those segments were melded into this

But I do know it was genius ... and it was divine.  I hope everyone who receives these emails will take some time to see the documentary and to reflect on the message contained in the song.

Sadly, the World seems to be in worst shape than it was in 1985.  Now there is famine not only in Ethiopia and Sudan,

but also in Gaza and Haiti

It seems to me that now, more than ever, we need to remember that We Are The World ... so let's start giving.

Peace,
